COLONIAL TRUJILLO - 03 Days/02 Nights
DAY 01: ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPLEX EL BRUJO + CAO MUSEUM
Complejo Arqueológico El Brujo. Pilar Remy
In the afternoon we will drive towards the Chicama valley where you will see the extensive sugar cane fields. A detour west to will take us to "El Brujo" where the Archaeological Complex constituted by 3 huacas is found: Cao, Partida and Prieta. Polychrome paintings have been discovered in the different levels of Huaca Cao. They represent prisoners, dancers, fishing scenes, battles and Moche mythological beings. We will also visit the new and recently opened museum in honor of the Lady of Cao, the mummy of a female ruler of the Mochica culture. Found by a team of archaeologists, her discovery is compared to the finding of the Lord of Sipan. Before it, it was believed that only men held high-ranking positions in ancient Peru.
Return to Trujillo.
